The weather is often the most important factor for anyone planning a holiday in Le Marche. As long as it's warm (but not too hot) and the sun is shining, most people are happy. We’re often asked questions like: “Is it always this warm in summer?”, “What’s the weather like in spring – can we swim in the sea or the pool?”, or “How cold does it get in winter? Does it snow here?”
Good questions – and while we can usually give you an idea, it’s never 100% predictable. Not even in Italy. Below you’ll find a general idea of what to expect each season:
Winter in Le Marche
December, January and February are generally cold, with a fair chance of rain – though it's often milder than in the Netherlands or Belgium, and the sun shines a bit more frequently. Snow does fall, especially in the hills and mountains. Some winters are snowy (like in 2012 when it snowed for two months), while others bring just a few days of snow.
Spring in Le Marche
From late February, spring slowly begins. March can still be chilly and unpredictable. By April, temperatures usually start to rise and nature begins to bloom. April and May are often pleasantly warm, though rain showers are still possible.
Summer in Le Marche
From June onwards, summer really kicks in – it gets warmer, drier, and the evenings are pleasantly mild. July and August are typically dry and sunny, with the occasional thunderstorm. Temperatures can exceed 35°C, and in some years climb close to 40°C. So do be prepared: summers can get very hot. September is usually an ideal month – warm days with cooler, refreshing evenings.
Autumn in Le Marche
From October, the weather starts to change. Rain and fog become more common and temperatures drop – though sunny days still occur. Autumn can be beautiful, but the weather is less predictable.
In short: Le Marche generally enjoys more sunshine and higher temperatures than the Netherlands or Belgium. Spring and autumn are pleasant but can be changeable. Summers are hot and dry, with occasional extremes. Perfect for sun lovers – as long as you know what to expect.
